FAQs
Hydrocarbons can only be stored in designated areas where potential spillages could be contained and quarantined to prevent contamination of the environment e.g. use of permanent bunding and/or drip trays with sufficient capacity.
Almost all SANS and Municipal by-law regulations require a holding capacity of 110% of the largest tank within the bund or 25% of the total capacity of all the tanks within the bund whichever is the greatest. In addition further International Best Practices & SHEQ Policy & Procedure recommend additional measures such as providing sufficient height of wall above the maximum holding capacity to accommodate dynamic factors (EG: Accidental rupturing or puncturing of a flow bin or IBC). As a rule (and unless specific local laws prevail) most operators work to the 110% capacity
AfriSupply specialises in a wide variety of Polyethylene spill containment products. Our Spill decks are ideal for the containment and portable bunding of small 25L containers through to the larger 210L drums and IBC/Flow bin tanks. AfriSupply is the only local manufacturer in Africa of IBC or Flow Bin Spill Decks that are fully 110% compliant or can hold 1100L in its bunded.
